How your plastic bottles are made into our polewear
At Luna we believe in always looking for ways to reduce our impact on the earth. This is why we’re so excited about our new recycled fabric range. Made from Repreve, a fabric that uses 100% recycled plastic bottles. This removes plastic waste from our oceans while saving a whole lot of energy in the process. Want to know how it’s made? Post consumer plastic water bottles are sourced as well as other plastic goods that are filling our oceans or land fills. These are then washed, with their labels and lids removed.
This is where the magic happens! The bottles are first chopped into flakes, melted into chips and a whole lot of cutting edge sciencey stuff to produce a recycled polyester yarn.
